* DESCRIPTION *
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Flying a party of VIP's to New York, or taking an aerial fotograph of a
dangerous oilspil for the coast of Great Britain? These are some illustra-
tions of the assignments which you may expect when you are pilot for FsFan
Global Airlines FGA B.V.
FGA B.V. is a simulated airline company and was founded in 1993 by Matthew
"Foxbat" Campman under supervision of FsFan.
The philosophy behind FGA is, that many simulator pilots what to do more than
just fly around Chicago. So the objective of FsFan Global Airlines is to
provide simulator pilots specific and original assignments, which pilots can
fly and for which they will be 'rewarded'. The use of maps, compasses,
rulers, navigation tools and flightplans is encouraged. With the foundation
of FGA, a clear 'Added-Value' was brought to the world of Flight Simulators.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
* ASSIGNMENTS *
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The system of FGA is easy: assignments are designed by the pilots themselves,
which requires some form of creativity. The pilots can fly these missions in
their own spare time, after which they send a flight report to the airline
management. This report is graded upon issues like fuel-consumption, time of
departure, navigation, time airborne and type of aircraft. Through this
information a 'salary' is calculated. There are no deadlines, no obligations,
you just fly whenever you feel like flying.
On average there is one new assignment every week and last 40 minutes. A mis-
sion always includes a startup-file and documentation; if necessary, air-
crafts and maps are also included. For instance, during a recent assignment
pilots had to check various oilplatforms in the sea on environmental pollu-
tion; after a hazardous flight on low altitude, with crosswind and low visual
sight, pilots had to take pictures of oilspills and return them to the
managment. During other missions, a U.S. marine had to be dropped on a
waiting aircraft carrier, and a popgroup had to be flown from Boston to
Martha's Vineyard for a rock concert...
Currently, there are assignments available for Microsoft's Flight Simulator
version 4 and 5 and for SUBlogic's Flight Assignment: A.T.P.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
* SALARY, RANKING AND PROMOTION *
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pilots will promote on their logged flight hours. A 'Rookie' will promote to
'Captain' after 8 hours, whereas a pilot requires 80 hours to become an
'ACE'. The salary can also be used to compete with other pilots: flying a
Cessna 182RG is worth 90 US Dollars per flight, whereas the Gates Learjet
pays you 240 US Dollars:
Standard salary per flight:
Single-engine turboprop aircrafts $ 90
Multi-engine turboprop aircrafts 150
Military and Business Jets 240
Commercial and Heavy Jets 350
Special Aircraft 450
Bonus system:
Per Minute shorter than standard $ 3
Per passenger 10
When the correct route is followed 40
When a correct password is found 50
When VFR is applicable 5
When IFR is applicable 10
When less fuel used than standard .5
Ranking system:
Flight hours as Rookie 0-14 hours
Flight hours as Captain 15-29
Flight hours as 1st Captain 30-54
Flight hours as Commander 55-79
Flight hours as ACE 80-up

* FEEDBACK AND OVERVIEWS *
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pilots are informed daily about their most recent assignment and their
accumulated progress. Every two weeks, overviews and summaries are published
and pilots can compare their scores with others:
HQ will mail an overview of everyone's activities, in the echo every two
weeks, so you can all see what your position is like:
MR. P. ILOOT Rank: ROOKIE 81:500/500.1
Salary: 169.50 Flights: 1 Flight hours: 00:35
First flight: 04-01-1994 Last flight: 04-01-1994
Also, HQ will give you an assignment review after every flight you've
made. This review will include all aspects the report was graded upon and
will show you for which item you have received basic salary and additional
bonus, like this:
Assignment review for: MR. P. ILOT

* ANTOINETTE 'LADYBIRD' LAGRADE *
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the airline you will meet a very famous person: Antoinette Lagrande, the
only virtual secretary in the world. Antoinette will take care of all the
airline administration, like checking flight reports, mailing reviews etc.
She also loves to hang out with the pilots and, believe it or not, she has
her own VFR licence! So you be nice to her, she'll be nice to you! If you're
lucky, you can find her in her little office at Teuge HQ, behind her computer.
You can also meet your colleque pilots at the only virtual bar in the world,
the "Hurricane Cafe". Because besides flying assignments, FGA pilots enjoy
drinking a virtual drink in the virtual bar where they can meet eachother and
talk about all the subject real pilots also like to talk about: beer, planes
and women!
Perhaps Antoinette will join you in the bar if she has some spare time...

* JOINING FSFAN GLOBAL AIRLINES *
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
You don't have to be an experienced Flight Simulator pilot in order to join
FGA; on the contrary, the airline is a 'club for friends' and everybody who
wants to participate and actively get involved is welcome. The assignments
have different degrees of difficulty, length and creativity. New pilots do
not require to fill in an Application Form. All they have to do is fill in
their name with the first assignment; the software at HQ will recognize you
in the future because your flight reports will mention your name exactly the
same every time.
If you are interested in joining FsFan Global Airlines, or if you would like
to receive more information, then contact us in the 'FsFan Airline
FSFAN.AIRL' echomail on FsFan related Bulletin Boards. Find out more about
